Film Developing

The last few weeks I have had a lot of fun learning how to process my 35mm film. Initially, this process is what scared me the most about learning to do film photography. It is in these steps that so many things could go wrong. I am happy to say, however, that I have been mostly successful. After struggling for about 45 minutes to load the film into the developing tank for the first time I was able to successfully develop my first 2 rolls of film. It seems to me that no matter how many times you practice loading film in the light as soon as you are in complete darkness it never seems to work so easily. It's almost like all the equipment changes and tries to play tricks on your mind and your hands as you try to feel your way through the process. The actual development is done in the light though so at least that is good. In all reality, the developing process is pretty simple as long as you make sure that you are diligently following the correct steps, measurements, and time requirements. It probably takes a total of about 20 minutes from start to finish plus 2-4 hours of drying time to develop in this case, 2 rolls of film.
